Luxurious Open Air Home Built for TwoIn the suburbs of Buenos Aires, overlooking the Arias Canal lies the eye-catching Agua House. This 450 square meter creation is the work of
Barrionuevo Sierchuk Arquitectas, who designed it to suit the luxurious lifestyle of a couple without children. Intended for exclusive use, the house features just one bedroom for dinner (come bed and breakfast) guests and centers around the master suite, that like the rest of the house, conceals heavy wooden doors which completely open the entire structure to the elements.
A wall of locally cut stone acts as a dramatic partition in the open plan living room and the primary material in the tactile twin bathroom. It continues into the organic, lightly wooded stairwell, which, without railings or glass panels, makes for a sleek design choice in a home where the safety of children, need not be considered. The stone is also a frequent reference for the warmly muted color palette used throughout Agua House’s interior. Dominated by stone as they are, internal spaces incorporate neutral colors and blonde wood in an effort to retain and reflect as much natural light as possible. External spaces, with the reflection of the pool and an aspect that enjoys ample sun, prefer a chic combination of dark wood and chrome that contrasts with the subtropical landscape and subsequently lush gardens.
This suburban home in Buenos Aires is anything but ordinary and provides a tangible link to mastering the art of indoor/ outdoor living.
